Origo is a cloud infrastructure provider based in Aarhus, Denmark.
Having experienced the complications of running a traditional hosting setup, we are equally inspired and fascinated by the industrial approach to hardware and infrastructure that makes the scale of AWS possible, and the simplicity of software and UI which makes Digital Ocean so attractive.
Our aim is to combine industrial scale with simplicity, rethinking the entire IT infrastructure stack, from hardware, cooling, monitoring and backup to actually running applications in an effective manner.
If your business uses servers, then yes, absolutely!
Most companies, small and large, have their web site hosted with an external hosting provicer. Internal applications usually run on servers in on-premises server rooms.
Origo Cloud has been designed for both use-cases. Origo Cloud can handle traditional hosting of websites and email, and can run your company’s internal servers. With Origo Cloud you can consolidate all your IT in the “cloud”, and experience predictable, stable and organized IT operations.
Server rooms are beginning to present a problem in many medium-sized companies. Slow and unwieldy IT is damaging to your company’s productivity, and today the security threat from hackers is more than a normal company can be expected to handle. Your company’s servers have perhaps been installed by a dedicated and motivated IT administrator years ago, who has since left the company. Many companies are therefore today stuck with a server room which 5 or 10 years ago made perfect sense, but today has turned into a big and expensive problem.
As the only cloud provider Origo offers to plan and execute the migration of your company’s servers to our modern infrastructure cloud, without any cost for you and with no ties attached. We usually perform migrations outside of normal work hours, so the only thing you will notice is better IT, predictable expenses and a substantially lower power bill
If you are located in the Nordic region and run file servers or a VoIP server we typically recomend establishing a direct fibre link to our operations center – this of course incurs a small extra initial and monthly cost.
Web hotels and traditional hosting providers have for many years mostly offered the same services based on the standard control panel Plesk.
In the meantime many businesses have discovered the advantages of cloud servers. If you too are growing out of your web hotel, perhaps it’s time to consider the flexibility, performance, scalability and better integration options that a true cloud infrastructure like Origo Cloud has to offer.
If your application servers are running with an external hosting provicer, they probably run under VMware. This probably means that you lack any possibility of instant deployment of new servers, easy and quick reconfiguration of storage, networking and CPU-ressources, and you probably pay a fixed monthly fee rather than metered billing. Backup and restore is probably something you have to order, and monitoring is probably an add-on product. We think all of this can be done simpler, better and at a lower cost, and would like to invite you to try it out.
In Origo Cloud you can scale and configure your own server environment and integrate with other services. Origo users can have their personal cloud server spun up and active in under a minute. Each server comes with full root access, a choice of operating systems, and the ability to customize the setup. As an example you can install any plug-in you like in WordPress, easily scale out across multiple servers if your traffic goes through the roof, and scale back down just as easily.
Origo Cloud allows on the fly scaling—a task that is much more difficult on a dedicated box. Changing the amount of RAM on a cloud server can be done with a simple reboot, while expanding the disk size takes less than an hour. The same process can take hours or days with a dedicated setup.
